As you can see from our name, we are committed to American energy independence! Many of you reading this introduction may not remember the oil embargo of the 1970’s or gas rationing in the 80’s. But I’m sure everyone remembers September 11th, 2001. In many ways, that fateful day changed the United States and the world forever.
For America, 9-11 had a profound affect on our future energy policies. It forced us to re-evaluate where our energy comes from and how it’s consumed. In doing so, we once again affirmed that many of our energy dollars go overseas to nations that are both unfriendly to the United States and, worse yet, divert those US dollars (our US dollars) to terrorist organizations.
In an attempt to keep more American energy dollars in this country and out of “hostile hands”, the United States Congress enacted the Energy Policy Act of 2005. In it, Congress mandated the use of more renewable energy.
Two years later, Congress strengthened their resolve by passing The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007. EISA increased renewable fuel mandates to help further reduce our foreign oil imports.
AMENICO was founded on the basic principles espoused in both aforementioned Congressional acts-that being, to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and help strengthen American security.
